9 Days / 8 Nights of Bhutan Cultural Tour will give you an insight into the living culture of Bhutan and Bhutanese way of life through the prism of a Bhutanese.

You will visit some of the most prominent tourist destination in Bhutan such as the Taktsang monastery (tiger’s nest), Punakha Dzong and Drukgyel Dzong.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Paro Airport.

Our representative will be there to pick you up from the airport and accompany you to lunch:

After lunch visit to:

  • Ta Dzong (built in 1656 and renovated in 1968), an ancient watchtower and presently the National Museum of Bhutan.
  • Rinpung Dzong (built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal), visit to a Typical Bhutanese Farm house.

Food and accommodation will be arranged as per your reservations.

Optional activities you can choose:

  • Hike to Dzongdrakha Monastery.
  • Hike to Nunnery.
  • Village walk.
  • Mountain biking around Paro valley.
  • Drive to Chelela pass to view Higher Himalayas .
  • Visit to a Farm house.

Day 2:  Paro excursion and drive to Thimphu.

After breakfast , explore the valley of Paro, visit to:

  • Hike to spectacular Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery.
  • Visit to Drukgyal Dzong 16 kilometer up the valley built in 1647 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. From here you will catch a good glance of Mt Jomolhari.
  • Walk around Paro town for photography and shopping.
  • In the evening drive to Thimphu. On the way, view Tamchog Monastery built by Thangthong Gyalpo.

Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Thimphu.


Day 3:  Thimphu Sightseeing.

After breakfast, visit to :

  • The National Memorial Chorten (1974)
  • Kuenselphodrang (Tallest statue of sitting Buddha in the world)
  • Takin Preserve center
  • Changangkha Monastery
  • The Dupthop Lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.
  • In the evening, visit TashichhoDzong(the administrative headquarters of Bhutan)

Dinner and overnight halt in Hotel in Thimphu.

Optional Activities you can choose:

  • Textile Museum
  • Bhutanese Cultural show.
  • Centenary farmer’s Market (Friday to Sunday)/ Philatelic office,/Handmade Paper factory Gold and Silver smith.
  • Talk on Gross National Happiness / Buddhism.
  • Hike to Cheri Monastery / Tango Monastery / Phajoding Monastery.
  • Village walks at Kabisa.
  • Mountain biking around Thimphu.

Day 4:  Thimphu to Punakha.

After breakfast, drive to Punakha:

  • On the way to Punakha, halt in Dochu-La pass for photography. Get ready to get the best photography of the Higher Himalayas.
  • Visit Royal Botanical Park at Lamperi.

Lunch will be served upon arrival in Lobesa.

  • After lunch visit Chime Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley? The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”.

Dinner and overnight halt in hotel in Punakha.

  Optional Activities you can choose:

  • Village walk.
  • White water Rafting in Pho Chu/ Mo Chu/ Camping in Jomlingthang.
  • Visit to Talo Monastery.
  • Hike to Khamsung Yulley Namgyal Choling Monastery

Day 5: Punakha To Phobjikha.

After breakfast:

  • visit Punakha Dzong.
  • On the way to , visit Wangdiphodrang Dzong (now under reconstruction) built in 1638.visit to :
  • Visit Gangtey Gompa.
  • Explore Phobjikha valley, famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter.

Dinner and overnight halt in hotel in Phobjikha.


Day 6: Phobjikha to Bumthang.

After breakfast, drive to Bumthang.

  • Halt in Pele-La pass for Photography.

Dinner and overnight halt in hotel in Bumthang.

Optional activities you can choose:

  • Mathra factory/ Swiss Cheese Factory / Beer factory.
  • Lhodrak Kharchhu Monastery
  • Excursion to Tangbi Goempa
  • Excursion to Pelseling Goempa

Day 7: Bumthang Sightseeing.

After breakfast:

  • Visit Kujee Lhakhang, Tamzhing Lhakhang (Temple of the good message), established in 1501 by Pema Lingpa.
  • Mebartsho (Literally means “The Burning Lake”).
  • Bhutanese Farm House.

Dinner and overnight halt in the Swiss Guest House or similar.

Optional activities you can choose:

  • Mathra factory/ Swiss Cheese Factory / Beer factory.
  • Jakar Dzong.
  • Excursion to Tangbi Goenpa
  • Excursion Pelseling Goempa

Day 8:  Bumthang to Thimphu.

  • After breakfast, drive to Thimphu.  Packed lunch will be served on the way.
  • Dinner and overnight in Hotel in Thimphu.

Day 9: Departures from Paro.

After breakfast, drive to the airport and Farewell.
