10 Days – 9 Nights of Bhutan Festival Tour

This tour package is especially designed for visitors who love to celebrate festivals and wants to have deeper insight into the culture of Bhutan. Tshechus are special and crucial part of Cultural tours in Bhutan. Paro Tshechu is one of the biggest festivals in the country. On the first day, all mask dances are held inside the courtyard of the Dzong. In the subsequent days, the courtyard outside the Dzong hosts the festival.


Day  1:  Arrival in Paro

Altitude 2200 meters

  • Your Guide will receive you at the airport and drive you to the Hotel.
  • Visit Ta Dzong also known as the National Museum, and Rinpung Dzong .
  • Dinner and overnight halt in Paro Hotel.

Day 2 : Paro(sightseeing)  to Thimphu

 Altitude: 2400 meters

  • After breakfast, excursion to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) .
  • After lunch, visit Kichu Lhakhang, and Ruins of Drukgyal Dzong.
  • In the evening, drive to Thimphu.
  • Dinner and overnight halt in Hotel in Thimphu

Optional activities you can choose:

  • Hike to Dzongdrakha Monastery.
  • Hike to Nunnery.
  • Village walk.
  • Mountain biking around Paro valley.

Day 3:  Thimphu Sightseeing

Altitude 2400 meters

  • After breakfast, visit National Memorial Chorten , Kuenselphodrang, Painting School, and sangaygang view point.
  • After lunch,visit Royal silver smiths, Bhutanese paper factory at work, Tashichho Dzong, Handicrafts Emporium.
  • Dinner and overnight halt in Hotel in Thimphu.

 Optional Activities you can choose:

  • Visit Dechenphug lhakhang
  • Attend a Talk of Gross National Happiness / Buddhism.
  • Hike to Cheri Monastery / Tango Monastery / Phajoding Monastery.
  • Village walk at Kabisa.
  • Mountain biking around Thimphu.

Day 4 :  Thimphu to Punakha

Altitude: 1350 meters

  • After breakfast, drive towards Punakha. On the way to Punakha, halt in Dochula pass for photography and visit Royal Botanical Park at Lam Pelri.
  • Upon crossing lobesa , visit Chhimi Lhakhang .
  • Dinner and overnight in hotel in punakha

Optional activities you can choose:

  • Drive to Talo Goenpa
  • Visit Khamsum Yulley Lhakhang
  • White water rafting in Mo Chhu/ Pho Chhu
  • Camping in Jomlinthang.

Day 6 :  Punakha  to Gangtey

Altitude: 2900 meters

  • After breakfast, visit Punakha Dzong , and start your journey towards Gangtey.
  • Visit Gangtey Gompa – Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grandson and mind reincarnation of Pema Lingpa founded the Temple in 1613, and Tenzin Legpai Dhendup.
  • In the evening, free to explore the Phobjikha valley famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Gangtey.

Day 7:  Gangtey to Paro

Altitude: 2200 meters

  • After breakfast, drive to Paro.  Lunch will be served on the way.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in Paro Hotel.

Day 8 : Paro Festival (Festival Day 1)

  • After breakfast, you will witness the Paro Festival. It is a good time to meet the local people in their finest costumes. This is a special time for the local people to have family time and also a time for spiritual healing.
  • Dinner and overnight halt in hotel in Paro .

Day 9 :  Paro Festival (Festival Day 2 )

  • After breakfast, attend the festival.
  • After lunch, you can drive to Chelela pass (3800 meters) which is the highest motorable road in Bhutan. On a clear day, you can see Jumolhari Mountain and Jichu Drake bordering Tibet.
  • Dinner and overnight halt in hotel in Paro.

  • Hike to Dzongdrakha Monastery.
  • Hike to Nunnery.
  • Village walk.
  • Mountain biking around Paro valley.

Day 10 :  Departure:

  • After breakfast drive towards the Airport and Farewell. We bid you farewell for your safe travel and next expedition.
